London, England – Tottenham moved level with Manchester 0 win over Everton at White Hart Lane.
Aaron Lennon's first-half goal handed Spurs the advantage at halftime, while a stunning strike from Benoit Assou-Ekotto in the 63rd minute wrapped up all three points for the hosts, who sit three points adrift of leaders Manchester City.
Louis Saha nearly put Everton into the lead in the opening minute when he narrowly missed the far post from inside the penalty area.
However, it was one of the few good scoring chances the Toffees produced and Lennon fired Spurs ahead 10 minutes before the break.
The England international brought down a long ball on the right wing, beat defender Leighton Baines to get into the penalty area, and rolled a shot past goalkeeper Tim Howard and inside the right post.
Tottenham looked like the more dangerous side in the second half as well and Assou-Ekotto put the result out of reach in the 63rd minute.
After taking a pass from Gareth Bale 40 yards from goal, Assou-Ekotto found enough space to unleash a rocket with his left foot that took a slight deflection off of Everton's Tim Cahill before finding its way past Howard.
