Anaheim, CA –  The Angels and first baseman Kendrys Morales year contract on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old switch-hitter hasn't played since breaking his left ankle while jumping onto home plate after hitting a game-ending grand slam against Seattle on May 29, 2010.

Morales, who underwent several procedures on his injured ankle, including a bone graft and surgery to remove scar tissue last May, has recently been cleared to run on his own weight and engage in more baseball-related activities.

The native of Cuba finished fifth in the AL MVP voting in 2009 after batting .306 for the Angels with 34 home runs and 108 RBI.
